If you work a normal week, Saturday is when you shop for a car. That is also when every dealership in Central Texas is at its busiest — and when a large share of them, by law, are the only day they are open at all.

Texas requires every dealership to close one weekend day. Almost all of them close Sunday. We close Saturday instead. Our sales floor runs Sunday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and we are the only Chevrolet dealership within 40 miles open before 11:00 AM that day.

For an Austin buyer, that is the whole pitch: a full-service Chevrolet store, 454 new vehicles on the ground, on the one day your calendar is actually clear and the lot is quiet.

What "open Sunday" actually means here

It is not a skeleton crew. Sunday is a full business day at our store — the same staffing, the same authority, the same process as a Tuesday:

Sales — every vehicle on the lot available to drive.
Finance — applications submitted, approvals returned, contracts signed and delivered the same day.
Appraisals — your trade appraised in writing, honored at delivery.
Delivery — you can drive home in the vehicle Sunday evening.

The one thing that does not run Sunday is service and parts. Those operate Monday through Saturday, which is the trade we made.

Why the quiet matters more than you think

A busy Saturday lot is not a neutral environment. Salespeople are splitting attention across three customers, the vehicle you want to drive is out with someone else, and the finance office has a queue. Decisions get rushed by the room rather than by the math.

Sunday here is the opposite. You can pull three vehicles up front and drive them back to back. You can sit in a truck for twenty minutes without anyone hovering. If you want to leave and think about it, nobody is working a close on you because there are four more people waiting.

That is not a sales tactic — it is a straightforward consequence of being open on a day competitors are not.

Getting here from Austin on a Sunday

The drive is the easy part on a Sunday — the traffic that makes this trip annoying on a weekday is largely gone. From north Austin, the Domain, Tech Ridge or Wells Branch, take I-35 north to US 79 and head east, or SH 130 north to the Hutto exit. Figure 25 to 30 minutes. From central, east or south Austin, SH 130 is usually faster.
